Lunar Eclipse

At the beginning of the eclipse.

We walked out about 1/2 mile onto the ice.

It was very cold. I could see my breath.

Too bad I'm not a more talented photographer with a better camera. That little thing is the moon during the color change.

Maybe it's because I was watching from my porch in the middle of the city, but I was disappointed with the eclipse. I expected more from the moon.

An astronomer friend of mine said that the moon looks red during a lunar eclipse because red light is able to bend around the earth easier. Sometimes science takes the wonder and magic out of cool things, but sometimes it just makes things seem more wonderful.

PS. I dig the photos! Maine seems cold.
